A magical journey into the Sicilian traditions
The largest island in Italy and the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily has been for centuries the holiday destination for many people. With its beautiful landscape, full of millennial traditions, Sicily has everything to fascinate tourist.
From some of the most beautiful beaches in the world to cities of incredible historical and artistic charm, from important archaeological sites to remarkable wildlife reserves where nature is still uncontaminated, Sicily is a paradise on Earth.
In its continuous scouting, Italian Allegria has traveled to Sicily to find unique locations for its clients: we have met hospitable and cordial people who are doing their work with great and ancient care, leaving indelible memories in the tourist’s heart. We made a journey through the flavors and history of this island and came back with the awareness of having discovered wonderful places in which Italian Allegria will be able to organize dream holidays for its customers. Let’s talk about some of them.
La posata di Federico II
Mrs. Pina, owner of the restaurant La posata di Federico II, is a magical and kind person. She has been working since she was a little girl and, along with her husband and cook, Alfonso, prepares dishes that renew Sicilian culinary tradition. Their restaurant is located in one of the historic squares of Agrigento and is a quiet place that deserved the Tripadvisor Excellence Certificate.
In a menu that revisits the cuisine of the area, you will find some dishes that will remain impressed in your memory for a long time: tuna tart with licorice ice cream, gorgonzola and pistachio scampi, spaghetti alla bottarga and a lot inventive when it comes to cakes.
From Agrigento to Ragusa
Let us now go from Agrigento to Ragusa to meet Mr. Giovanni of Relais Parco Cavalonga, who is a gentleman of other times and knows how to enchant with his tales of Sicilian history. He will also give valuable advice on hidden gems to discover in the province of Ragusa.
Surrounded by the countryside, this 19th century rural hotel is just a few kilometers from the famous Donnafugata Castle and it is close to the Trabacche Grotto.
The structure, consisting of several stone buildings, includes both comfortable rooms with modern furnishings as well as two and three bedroom apartments with kitchen, living room and terrace or private garden. There is a cozy restaurant with a tree-lined patio, two pools and they also arrange massages in your room.
Making a vacation in this luxury hotel also means traveling back in time, to years where kindness, courtesy and love for your work still meant a lot.
We end this little tour of Sicily by stopping at Noto, at the San Pietro Bed & Breakfast run by the Puglisi Family. In this structure, strategically located in a wonderful area of Noto, quiet and reserved, you will be cuddled and snuggled by the owners that will offer you the traditional Sicilian breakfast with homemade granites, cannoli and almond biscuits.
From this Bed & Breakfast you can easily reach both the Cathedral of Noto and some wonderful beaches, and for the occasion the managers will prepare you the classic “snack at the beach” of this area, the “pane cunzato”.
These are just some of the places that most moved and touched us during our trip.
Thanks to this experience, Italian Allegria is even more prepared to plan your dream holiday in Sicily: among luxury hotels, apartments and villas for rent or romantic sailing on charter boats, we will find the right solution for your needs.
You will discover this magnificent island, have a sensational vacation and meet special, professional, affectionate people who know how to pamper the customer.
